Everything must change
人生の核心を歌った作品。客観的に人生を見つめその必然を説きながらも一方で、ある種の救いを探しているのだろう。
作詞作曲のBenard Ighnerは1974年のQuincy Jonesのアルバム"Body Heat"で自らヴォーカルで参加している。
出だしの歌詞は繰り返される問答で始まり、背後には宇宙とか輪廻とか壮大な世界観を感じながらも、あくまでもシンプルな循環での、人の人生を歌う。
救いはAメロからBメロへ転調で光がさす場面だが、やはり最後はループするメロディーが不安を醸し出す。
「祇園精舎の鐘の音、諸行無常の響あり、、、」平家物語だなこの曲、と思ったのは初めて聴いた当時（70年代の中頃）笠井公子の録音。廃盤のレコードはもう手元に無い。
